The Alexandria-Mt. Vernon chapter incorporates our national programming thrusts of Education, Cultural, and Civic into the monthly activities of our children. Below are the programming requirements for 2016-2017.

Pearls Age Group

“Philantrokids”- Create, Save, Give

Thrust: Financial Literacy;
Civic-Community Service

The JJAMV Pearl's September activity was centered around two of the National Programming Thrusts: Financial Literacy and Civic Engagement.   The key words emphasized during the activity were Create~Save~Give.  Each Pearl was given a name tag indicating they are a "Philantrokid".  The Pearls participated in a hands-on activity at Color Me Mine focused on 'creating' personalized banks. The designated banks will be used to collect loose change to 'save' for future contributions.  At the end of the programming year, the Philantrokids will count their saved funds and make a contribution to the J&J Foundation.  The 'giving' component of this activity will fulfill the Civic Engagement as the Philantrokids will demonstrate their 'power to make a difference' at even a young age. The personalized banks will serve as a keepsake and reminder for the Philantrokids to continue to "put some aside" for causes focused on child development.
